Born in the late 70s under the leadership of its former director, Jean-Bernard Meunier, the Festival de Sable is emblematic of the rediscovery of the music on period instruments. Initiated in the 60s, this movement at the beginning confidential, has continued to develop in the following decades, sparking the part of the public, an unusual passion.
If the event contributes, over the years, the revival of early music, he also participates in one of the beautiful dance that is essentially linked.
True to its eclectic programming Sablé Festival is plural, made of small and large formations, secular and sacred programs, vocal or instrumental, of French music, Czech, English, German, Italian, Portuguese, known or discovered. .. This curiosity is in line with the rediscovery of early music movement that makes every day to get back to work, by studying the sources, out of the shadow of the parts inside the oversight. This musicological accompaniment, dear Festival perpetuates the link that has always existed between baroque music and basic research.
